World Heritage of Easter Island Changing Name

Easter Island is famous for its giant statues Polynesia will change its name to Summer Island. The reason, the discovery of the island is not at Easter, but summer.

Historians have found evidence that the Easter Island Dutch explorer who discovered Easter Island in 1722 actually reached the island in July, not April as previously believed the world. They get evidence through artifacts that archaeologists excavated the island's UNESCO World Heritage.

It is known that Perling Jorleg, Dutch explorer, nearly reaching Easter Island in early April. But because of the storm, stay away from the island until he came back a few months later.

"It's important for the people of this island, and the world to know the truth of their past," says Manu Makitupa, a historian who discovered this fact, as quoted from the Telegraph, Monday (01/04/2013).

The Chilean government has also agreed to change the name of the island to island Summer (summer), and is expected not to change the world's attention to the island. The plan, renaming the inauguration will be done on July 7, 2013.

However, the islanders are reluctant to change the name, because it was felt would be costly. Start of stamps, currencies and other products typical souvenirs of the island republic must be replaced.
